A new study published in theJournal of the American Medical Associationhas found that the popular Viagra-type drug, which is marketed as a treatment for erectile dysfunction, has a lower risk of heart attacks and strokes than the brand-name drug.
The study, presented at the 26th Annual Meeting of the American Heart Association, found that Viagra, sold as the "little blue pill," has a lower risk of cardiovascular disease than its brand-name counterpart, Levitra. The drug, which is also marketed as Viagra, was found to have an even lower risk of heart attack than Levitra.
The study, led by researchers at Harvard Medical School, examined the results of a large randomized control trial of 2,069 men aged 18 to 41 with ED who were randomly assigned to one of 2 different erectile dysfunction drugs, Viagra or Levitra.
